Burn Berlin Burn

August 7th, 2008  |  Published in Store

With a girl on the ground, we’re being fed all sorts of goodies from Berlin. And while she’s looking for a gig to run with, we’re being shown around by proxy. Apartment Berlin has a really cute website I must say, and Andreas Murkudis looks quite intense.

Large Hadron Collider is almost fully operational

August 7th, 2008  |  Published in Photography, Structure  |  1 Comment

As we’ve mentioned before, we’re fans of big industrial things that do stuff. So we were quite happy when Roger Matt Bachle Morris sent us over a link to this gallery that the Boston’s got online of the Large Hadron Collider. I’m not going to even bother going into detail about that this thing does, just do yourself a favour and go check out the pretty pictures for yourself.

Christer Strömholm

August 6th, 2008  |  Published in Photography

Swiss photographer Christer Strömholm’s work is certainly challenging, sometimes downright disturbing, and definitely not for the faint hearted. Connoisseur of the macabre Dr Tenge has curated a gallery of selected work.

GRAFF-AT - Graffitied Imperial At-At Walker

August 6th, 2008  |  Published in Art

Suckadelic, in collaboration with EASE and JK5, took a Hasbro AT-AT Walker and covered it in Graff. What’s interesting about this one though is, all the tags are done in the Aurebesh language, a fictional language from the Star Wars universe. Geeky stuff, we love it.

You can check out the rest of his questionable art, the Graff-AT sold for $1,250 at Christie’s.

Essentiel - Belgian

August 6th, 2008  |  Published in Brand

Belgian brand Essentiel. With quirky prints, the label brings Eley Kishimoto to mind, coupled with A.P.C’s casual functional flair.

Layerbylayer’s geometric forms

August 6th, 2008  |  Published in Art, Product

A “schooled architect” uses his model building skills to create these beautiful craft/art/objects.
Made from recycled cardboard, beeswax and patches of moss, you’ll enjoy having these to look at on the gloomy days, all without having much in the way of maintenance. They’re really affordable too.

Desk too messy ? Then maybe try the smaller magnetic versions instead.

Single men’s choice - 8 products for the single man

August 5th, 2008  |  Published in Design

So, in urban Switzerland more than every second household is kept by a single living man. That convinced 3 Swiss Industrial Design students to design 8 products specifically for single men, based on their needs and problems. The products themselves are pretty special, but also check out all 68 ideas that they had. Great portfolio piece, and some of the products are so kick ass like the keyboard-napkins are pretty damn universal.

Storm Sewer System - Saitama, Japan

August 5th, 2008  |  Published in Design  |  1 Comment

Old stuff is still good stuff, we’re immensely fascinated with urban structures, especially big epic industrial ones. Definitely worth a look and read if you haven’t chanced on this before. We’ll be visiting this place for sure when we’re next in Japan.

Bird Electron’s AirBoard Keyboard Tray

August 5th, 2008  |  Published in Design, Product

Some might say this completely defeats the minimalist approach that Apple has taken with they’re keyboard, but who cares? Wood grain and aluminium were born to be side by side. This little wrist read by Japanese company Bird Electron is available here for 5,000円. Check out their products, including these cube ipod speaker.
